Dr. Cheryl Letheren

Meet Dr. Cheryl Letheren

Dr. Letheren has been practicing Optometry in London for 29 years. She provides assessment and treatment for binocular problems, strabismus, amblyopia, learning disabilities, autism and sports vision; as well as concussion, head injury, stroke, and neurodegenerative disease. Dr. Cheryl is the former chief of optometry for TLC, the Laser Centre in London, Ontario (1995-2000). She is a graduate of Western University in London, Ontario in physiology and has her Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo, which is the only English-speaking Optometry school in Canada.

She did additional training at the School of Optometry in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and earned her fellowship with the American Academy of Optometry in 1995. Currently, Dr. Cheryl is working on both her pediatric fellowship with COVD and her Neuro fellowship with NORA.

Dr. Letheren has had more than 10 years of experience with vision rehabilitation. She has been on staff at Parkwood Hospital, a rehabilitation facility, for the last seven years, seeing acute in-patient and out-patient brain injury, complex care, and stroke patients; she also acts as a consultant for patients with chronic conditions, motor vehicle injuries, head injuries, developmental conditions, learning disabilities and concussions in adults and children.

A professional lecturer, Dr. Letheren has been interviewed for television and radio and writes articles for numerous publications and patient-directed information in North America. Dr. Cheryl consults for legal cases and provides expert evaluation for insurance companies. She has been a member of the Board of the Association of Optometry of Ontario and has served on numerous committees. She also finds time to mentor optometry students, university students, and entrepreneurial young women.

Dr. Cheryl is a proud mother of 3 adult children and so she is no longer found at the hockey arena or dance studio. She has 2 doggies and enjoys hiking, music, taking courses at Western, and traveling.
